Third day of science week! Today’s topic is, What’s the next gadget that you want to buy?
This would have to be either the OpenMoko or the Qtopia Greenphone both are open source and built on a linux framework. More importantly if you get one you can develop your own appliactions for it. Since the Qtopia Greenphone is now sold out and it doesn’t look like it’s coming back anytime soon I believe I will be going with the OpenMoko once it hits Stage 2 and has Wi-fi. How I long for a phone with Wi-fi!!

Today’s task to write about is what invention would you want to see most in the future? For me it would have to be Free Broadband! I would love to see free DSL / Wireless [the later a more reasonable option] from companies like Google or Microsoft come into Ireland. Kilkenny are of course already thinking about it, so, hopefully it comes in and becomes nationwide!

First things first! I want! You can purchase it over here! But isn’t this an amazing thing? Basically the blue bits are LEDS that will show the signal strength of a wireless network if you are close to one! I’m seriously getting one of these.. at some point when I can afford it! I’d walk around town all day just staring at my… t-shirt! And don’t get me started on how much of a laugh it would be at something like Podcamp! The minute the wireless network goes up your lighting up! Alerting everyone the Internet is on, without disturbing a person! Mmm.. Yes I have plans for this one!
