I thought the iPhone news would stop! The iPhone was released on June 11th, more than four months ago! Yet apple news is nothing but iPhone, iPhone, iPhone, iPhone - get my drift? Seriously, I’m starting to think it just won’t stop, its going to be a never ending story of unlocked, locked, launched in Europe, locked in Europe, iPhone version 2. It makes you think though doesn’t it? The amount of media surrounding this little invention, does anyone remember this much over anything else at all? Let alone a phone? Think about that and let me know if you can! Because I seriously.. can not!

AN Irish trawler scooped up an unusual catch of cannabis worth up to €1.4 million ($2.3 million) in the Atlantic, customs officials said.
The discovery of eight bales made up of 200 kilograms of drugs was made yesterday about 80km west of Slyne Head, County Galway, western Ireland. An investigation is under way involving the Irish navy, police and customs.
Not often do we hear these stories but there you have it!

Straight from the horses mouth!
The past 3 months we’ve been working feverishly on the next version of WordPress, 2.3. Today we’re releasing the first beta of 2.3 and we’re hoping the more adventurous and savvy among you will help us test it.
Some of the features of 2.3 include plugin and core update notification, built-in tags support, faster javascript, and SEO-friendly URL redirection.
However all of the new functionality is still very rough, so only test the beta if you are comfortable troubleshooting PHP issues, filing tickets, and backing up your data religiously.
Don’t think I will install it on the blog yet but if I get a spare few minutes at the weekend I’ll do an install of it and tinker around! I’m interested to see what plugins still work, and if there is any change with themes. Anyone tried it out yet? Download it here.

Its now 2am GMT. And this is on Google ‘Tech’ news, which of late I have realised has become more and more slow to pick up on news. Since 11am GMT its been all around the blogosphere of what caused Skype’s outage. Yet, it takes Google News fifteen hours to get the story! Certainly not breaking news anymore! In my opinion I expect more from Google, you’d expect Google to have the breaking news, the first to pick it up! But no, as I said it takes fifteen hours! Amazing.. Truely!

We’ve seen all the movies, Terminator, iRobot. We have given them AI, so they can understand basic stuff. Now we are giving them weapons. Well not us, but the Americans. I guess they have to be the first to fuck things up hey? First the nuclear bombs, now armed robots! It only takes one little fuckup for something to go wrong. A syntax error in the “Dont shoot innocent people” code! You know how it goes! Seriously, its only one minor thing till we have to fear these machines. Anyone seen “Stealth” the movie?
There have been robots patrolling the sunny sands of Iraq since the initial invasion, but until now, they’ve merely been there to scope stuff out. That was then, this is now. According to Noah over at the always-awesome Danger Room blog, the military has just deployed their new “special weapons observation remote reconnaissance direct action system” (SWORDS) that has been in development for the past few years. What are the SWORDS, exactly? Oh, just some bomb-disposal robots armed with M249 machine guns. Holy shit, robots with machine guns.
This is a pretty huge step forward for robotics in warfare. Never before have armed robots been deployed in a war. There are only three of them deployed at the moment, and none of them have fired any rounds yet, but Michael Zecca, the SWORDS program manager, says “that’ll be happening soon.” Yikes.
In addition to the machine guns, the SWORDS can be loaded up with the optional X-ray kit to check out suspicious packages or to make sure the guy it just apprehended didn’t swallow a bomb. That’s all well and good, but just keep them over there rather than back home; I’ve seen the Itchy and Scratchy Land episode of The Simpsons. I know how this party is gonna end.

I would like to just say RIP to Chris Benoit and his family. What has happened is a terrible tragedy and my thoughts go out to thier family.
Chris Benoit his wife Nancy and his seven year old son Daniel were found dead in their home in Atlantia this morning. Benoit had canceled last nights wrestling event due to "Personal Reasons" Police are now investigating the death as homicide.
Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department told ABC News that Benoit had missed several appointments over the weekend, leading concerned parties to ask police to do a "welfare check."
When sheriffs arrived at the Benoit home, they found the wrestler, his wife, and his son dead.
There was no sign of gunshot wounds or stabbing, according to Pope. But they are not ruling out other causes, such as poisoning, suffocation, or strangulation. Although Pope noted he was not "confirming" any of these causes, just not ruling them out at this time.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. However, it could be as long as weeks before there is a result.
