Google

Google have today released their “Shared Storage” program. For the moment Gmail and Picassa are the only Google products that are a part of this however soon Google Docs & Spreadsheets and other products will be. Perhaps Google Video & Youtube? Basically the idea of the whole thing is if you need anymore storage for any of your Google Applications you can purchase it via the Google Store. The prices are pretty reasonable:

6 GB ($20.00 per year)
25GB ($75.00 per year)
100GB ($250.00 per year)
250GB ($500 per year)

However you would expect more from Google, this does raise alot of questions about Gmails increasing storage. Will it continue to increase or is it going to stop at 3 GB? More importantly, are they going to include Blogger in this? If so will Blogger become a more flexible platform? I’d also be intrested to see if they include Google Page Creator in this, and then upgrade Google Page Creator, offering you hosting.. The ideas really are amazing and endless!

We will see a Google Phone?

Google

And so the rumours have become abit more than rumours, if everyone remembers this is exactly how the iPhone started out. Will we really see a Google Phone? What will its features be? How will it be better than the iPhone? The questions are endless! If anyone has anymore info on this I’d love to know, more importantly I’d love to know what your idea of what the Google Phone will be is!

Crunchgear did have this image on their website last march saying that it was the Google Phone, if this is it or not, who knows?

Google Phone

This is the second image of the Google Phone thats floating around:

However a couple of new website have reported on the Google Phone:

‘Google is believed to have spent “hundreds of millions of dollars” on its mobile phone project and has courted Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and others as possible partners for carrying a Google-designed phone. According to anonymous sources, Google has multiple phone prototypes and envisions a day in which mobile phones will be ad-supported thanks to services such as those Google provides.’ -Ars Technica

‘Google Inc. has developed a prototype cell phone that could reach markets within a year, and plans to offer consumers free subscriptions by bundling advertisements with its search engine, e-mail and Web browser software applications, according to a story published Thursday in The Wall Street Journal.’ - Computer World.

Google need to buy Basecamp

Basecamp

Don’t get me wrong, I love Basecamp, I’d really love to use it. But I just can’t afford to! I work on multiple projects over the internet alot with other people and Basecamp would be the perfect option for us. But we would need the Plus version, which is $49 per/month. Now I wouldn’t mind paying $49 per/month if it was for an unlimited amount of projects, but thats only for thirty! Which works out as way too much for me, a student! So I think the only solution is that Google buys Basecamp and makes it free! :) I actually don’t see why they haven’t bought Basecamp yet, online project managment isn’t something they have a product of! It would be nice to see them expand into it also! Basecamp claim to have over a million people signed up, has it hit Google’s eye yet?
