Transmission Is Now Default BitTorrent Client for Ubuntu

transmission

The popular lightweight bittorrent client “Transmission” is now Ubuntu’s default client and is replacing the GNOME Bittorrent client that Ubuntu has used up to now! This change will be in full effect when Ubuntu 8.04 comes out which is expected in April 2008.

Transmission is available for all machines and operating systems except Microsoft Windows. It’s very like Ubuntu as it focus’s on being lightweight but includes all the features you need!

As the Transmission team themselves say:

Transmission is a fast, easy, and free multi-platform BitTorrent client with a focus on being lightweight yet feature-filled.

If your running Mac OSX or any linux distribution it’s worth checking out and you can find it here!

Pirate Bay Style

the-pirate-files

Yesterday the Pirate Bay crew received all the legal papers over their case with the Swedish police, in typical Pirate Bay style the Pirate Bay made another little joke and bought five trees to compensate for environmental losses with the amount of paper used! You have to love these guys, they really take the piss out of anyone!

P2P Websites: Database Self-Destruct

selfdestruct

While reading over TorrentFreak and the whole did the Oink server database self-destruct or not, it really got me thinking on how simple it would be for these torrent website’s to protect their users! Database self-destruct. Its in-genius really, if your server connects up to another IP it auto self-destructs. Otherwise it has a set time for you to do a secret command on it or the database self-destructs. Even better if the database isn’t loaded in the correct way it self-destructs! Then the police have absolutely nothing on your website! Of course they would probably try to get you “done” for having an auto-self-destruct feature… Maybe an auto-self-destruct-database-replace [try say that five times fast..] Then again no user’s have ever gotten arrested yet as far as I can remember, but think ahead websites!

Four Demonoid Invites To Go!!

Demonoid

There was so many request’s for invites on my last post that I actually had to close comments on it! After finally getting around to the majority of people who didn’t seem to be bots or just sketchy characters I have four invitation codes left! These will go to readers that I am familiar with or in the event that readers don’t respond within a week, the first four people to comment!

Note: I will try get as many people as possible an invite code but the invites generate over a set amount of time + how much I download / upload! I really don’t need anymore Linux distributions!
