I’m just in from Podcamp Ireland and I have to say it was an amazing event, unfortunately I couldn’t attend every talk and at the moment I can’t watch the others on video due to my Internet being down and being on a slow, unsecured 11.0 Mps network..
However what I did get to see was:
Podcasting and the arts by David Maybury from Poetry IrelandI really enjoyed this session and learnt not only about Podcasting in the arts, but how to build and grow a community. I thought it was interesting too that teachers had a problem with Poetry Ireland being on Bebo and were against it. Poetry in Ireland removed their Bebo account after hearing that off one or two people but I find it interesting that teachers would see it as a bad thing!
Audio Production by Conn O’MuinneachainBrilliant presentation by Conor, showing not only how to fix sound waves when they are too low in Audacity, but the power of Levelator, how to record properly and a recommendation of a microphone! Excellently put together!
Getting Granny Podcasting by Granny MarI thought this was an amazing session, it not only showed how simply one can start off Podcasting, but without a doubt convinced me to subscribe to Granny Mar’s Podcast!
Building communities and the future of social media Panel DiscussionThis was by far my favorite talk of the day! I thought people’s theory’s/guess’s on what would happen in the future did not only make me think, but where interesting! I especially loved the suggestion of the President of America making a guest post on the President of Ireland’s blog!
What do you do when? by Elly ParkerThis wasn’t an actual official talk, though Elly did bring it up at the very end just as a quick thing, but I did get the chance to talk to her about this. Basically the questions are, if your spouse dies can you get into their blog, hosting, email etc.? And also, what if you get a divorce, what information could your spouse have on you that they could put online to blacken your name! I’ve probably done a horrible job on trying to explain that now, but I’m sure if Elly wants to expand further she will do!
Overall:Podcamp Ireland was a great event, in my mind a huge success. Hopefully there will be another one not so far away in which more people will attend!
Update: It seems Mr. Deek Deekster managed to take a picture with me in it! Yes as hard as I tried I was captured!

To set up an online business, you need to buy domain at first. You should choose a domain that best suits your business and then look for a good ecommerce hosting package which also includes antivirus software. Virus threats have been growing with use of wireless card and USB devices. Additionally, it should also include internet marketing tools to manage your ppc and email marketing campaigns.
Digg it!
Hi Sean
Great to see that you enjoyed the PodCamp Ireland experience. The talks were very good, you should watch all the vids at your first opportunity. Loved the final panel one on building communities, especially.
The final panel one was amazing I agree! Shame you couldn’t make it! Will you be at the next one?
We shall see. It’s in my diary, but it really depends on who is there and what the topics are.
Ah cool, is there actually a date for it?
Thanks for reviewing the sessions you watched. I wish I could have sat in on them.
I hope we’re back for Podcamp 08 in Kilkenny during the last weekend of September 2008.
I presented on the topic “Death & Divorce” during BarCamp Waterford. If you’re interested in more more detail on this, you can check out my presentation here: http://www.ellybabes.com/files/Death_and_Divorce_in_the_digital_world.ppt
Bernie, hope to see a Podcamp 08 myself! Should be another good laugh! Elly, thanks for that, looking at it now!
Sean - delighted you found the content was useful and your summary shows just how diverse the content was which was one of our objectives.
I look forward to seeing you at next years PodCamp Ireland and perhaps you’ll host a session then?
Krishna, will definatly be at next years Podcamp, and maybe I will have something to talk about too!
Thank you for sharing!
