SlaveHack

Came across a great game today. ‘Slave Hack‘, if you like Uplink by Introversion you will like this. Certainly some flaws I would love to see changed in it but overall its really a great game! Basically you start off by making money from having “slave” computers [probably Windows users..] send spam, you make money from that. Then as it goes on you get the software to be able to distribute “warez” and lastly to “ddos attack” machines! Crazy game.. Great fun and worth a look at! Again ‘Slave Hack‘, try it out!

Blogmusik is now Deezer

Deezer
Thats right, from now on, if you hit www.blogmusik.net into your browser it will automatically forward you to www.deezer.com. Why? Who knows! Ouriel from TechCrunch was having problems with the ‘k’ and the ‘.net’ though, is that enough for a company to change a domain? :P

Oh yes, the important bit, well Blogmusik, or Deezer as they are now called. [Its just not the same] are now legit! Imagine that.. For people who don’t know what Blogmusik / Deezer is click here.

For more information on the whole them being legit now, read Techcrunch’s article.

Firefox 3, Whats new?

Firefox
Mozilla is hoping to make web applications work offline in its upcoming product, Firefox 3. Google are working with them to achieve this and Firefox will be the first web browser to have offline web-application support, how soon until other browsers follow! ;)
Email provider Zimbra’s webmail is going to be a supported offline web application, when emails are typed offline they will be saved to the ‘drafts’ folder and just like Outlook once you go online they will be sent, weither or not Gmail will have this functionality is unknown, but I for one am hoping it does! Other features in the upcoming Firefox 3 release include improvements on memory performance, reducing Firefox’s strain on the system.
A release date for Firefox 3 has not yet been confirmed however it is said to launch around the end of this year.

Gmail Notifier

Gmail Notifier
Are you a Linux user? Or maybe just a windows user who wants to support an Open Source application? :) Then this is what your looking for! Since Google have pretty much left us [the Linux community] out with the Gmail notifier, as well as other Google software, Gmail notify is a Linux alternative of Gmail Notify written in Python. It works just as well as the official one, and really has all the same features, what else could you add hey? :)
If you are running Ubuntu it can be installed as simply as putting the following into the terminal:

sudo apt-get install gmail-notify

For other users, Windows and any other distro of Linux, you can download from the Sourceforge project page located here!

Google ‘Tech’ News is a Joke!

Google News
Its now 2am GMT. And this is on Google ‘Tech’ news, which of late I have realised has become more and more slow to pick up on news. Since 11am GMT its been all around the blogosphere of what caused Skype’s outage. Yet, it takes Google News fifteen hours to get the story! Certainly not breaking news anymore! In my opinion I expect more from Google, you’d expect Google to have the breaking news, the first to pick it up! But no, as I said it takes fifteen hours! Amazing.. Truely!

Barry Collins doesn’t think Facebook is important!

Facebook

Ok, so Damien Mulley thinks Facebook will outdo Google, Barry Collins from PC Pro doesn’t think Facebook is even important, saying in this months PC Pro: “Facebook isn’t the new Google, it isn’t even the new Friends Reunited.” Reading it, I actually had to think, has this guy read Damien’s post? Either way, I’m not going to re-publish the article here, but to anyone thats interested you can read it here!

Are you an impulsive blogger?

Impulsive Blogger

Lately I’ve found my posting schedule just not working out, one day I’ll have four or five posts, the next maybe one, possibly none! The problem? I impulsively blog. Whatever hits my head, whenever, wherever! Sure thats great normally, but then there are days where I just can’t think of what to blog about and I’m left stranded, literally pulling a post out of myself! It takes the joys out of it! I’ve heard of people talk about how bad impulsive blogging is and always thought “Well sure, but most of my topics need to be impulsive” with them being news and other on the moment stuff. But honestly it isn’t really good enough, I never have a “Back Up” plan! It’s interesting sometimes, even kinda funny! But how to change? Sure I’ve read tips about making lists for your off days! Lists aren’t me! So therefore I’ve come up with a new one, from now on. Thats right, starting today. I’m going to try have one software or website review a day. If you don’t see one, I’ve failed and I’m back to impulsively blogging. All this thinking made me think though, are you an impulsive blogger? If so how do you “cope” with days that you can’t really think of what to blog about? Please let me know! I’d love to hear from you!

Learn Ruby from your Browser

Interactive Ruby Ready
An amazing website I found over the weekend is ‘Try Ruby‘. This website [which includes an amazing tutorial] lets you try Ruby without installing it or anything in your browser! Ruby seems to be the “Cool to know” language of the moment, I really don’t have much interest in learning it at the moment. But perhaps someday.. ;) But in the end, its nice to play around with other languages! And ‘Try Ruby‘ certainly lets you do that, as well as learn Ruby!
So head on over to ‘Try Ruby‘ and check it out!
