Dell will release their new XPS 1730 system on the 27th of August! The Dell XPS 1730 is looking like quiet a powerful machine at the moment supporting the following range of features;
- Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.00 GHz (4 MB), T7500 2.20 GHz (4 MB), T7700 2.40 GHz (4 MB) or X7800 2.60 GHz (4 MB)
- Nvidia GeForce Go 8600M GS graphics card with 256MB memory
- Up to 4gig RAM
- Blu-ray drive
- 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth

This will be Dell’s first machine to make use of Intel’s latest Core 2 Extreme X7800 mobile processor. Thoughts? Let me know via a comment!

Choosing the right laptop has really become a difficult and time-consuming task. If you get 50 reasons to get a sony laptop, you’ll get 100 to get HP’s. It’s simply because you have too many things to compare for. First thing you’ll see is probably svga graphics card with good memory. Then it comes to connectivity options like Bluetooth to connect your cellular phones for software and ringtones transfer. It should also support connectivity with video cameras and other devices like printer.
Digg it!
I expect, like the 1720, it will be WUSB certified and I wonder if HDMI out and DVI ports will be included??
Fingers crossed they will be…..
No doubt a fully spec’d machine is going to be in the same price range as a M2010 - in the region of $6000 (£3000) - give or take a hundred or two……
HDMI out and DVI ports are certainly a must! Hopefully it isn’t too expensive so some normal folk can get a few!
MMM…this is interesting, it’s already 29th, and there is no 1730 on their site.
The release date on the 1730 was pushed back to 9/21/07. Also need to mention it will have dual hard drives in either RAID 0 or 1. Also the Nvidia GeForce Go 8600M GS graphics card will be a dual SLI video card with 512MB (combined). And the Ageia Physx processor. And it weighs nearly 11 pounds. We had a training class on these a few weeks ago and they rock.
Forgot to mention the keyboard is backlit, too. But it can be turned off and on with a keystroke combination.
Theres been a delay - will be September now - if you want another look…

There was a link on the US site a few days ago - I subscribed and today received e-mail with this link. Not full range of options yet but…. looks better than previous shots I’ve seen. Not fully spec’d example here but…Sean - what do you think?
…and it costs a bomb….

Yeah, its one to wish for but not to buy!
If I had that much money I’d just build my own computer! I could make it better than that!
Configurator on the site appears to be down. Early this morning you could spec one out at dell.com. (at least I could on the internal Dell network). After I chose all the goodies it came out a little over $7200.00. Of course, I chose the two 64 GB Solid State hard drives in a RAID 0. The cheaper option would have been 500GB (2*250GB at 5400 rpm) or the 400 GB (2*200 at 7200 rpm) RAID 0 options. If I was really going to drop this much cash on an XPS I could live with the 128 GB HDD. Can you say wicked awesome fast?
Never would not have thought
