It seems since I’ve installed Ubuntu I’ve been here there and everywhere downloading new software and trying it out, really is fun you know! The one for today is to blog from within Ubuntu. This marvelous application, which I have used to post this blog post works with Wordpress, Blogger, Moveable Type.. and I’m sure there is a work around to make it work with your blogging platform!!

To install it open a terminal window and type in the following:

sudo apt-get install drivel

Then it will tell you is not authenticated.. Just say yes! [Not many programs are.. ] Couple of seconds later its downloaded and installed! However, if you are using Wordpress it doesn’t actually have wordpress on the drop-down menu, you have to insert your wordpress user-name and password, pick Moveable Type as your blogging platform and then give it the full link to your xmlrpc.php file. So example. http://www.seanmcn.com/blog/xmlrpc.php . Then your set! You can blog! What I rather about this in comparison to “Blog Entry Poster” is that it supports Categories! I’ll probably find another better one before the week is over, but for now! Drivel will do what I need!
